Reading a book. Yes it still happens after college. I try and make a point to have a new book every summer, just for the heck of it. This summer I am reading Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth. He previously wrote the Power Of Now.
I was recommended this book from a customer of mine, he used to work for the government and is a very educated individual who decided he made enough money and wanted to support his son's hobby, skateboarding... so he opened up a shop. Then I went into Borders and asked the chic where it was at... she had also read it so I was pretty convinced at this point to purchase it. I mean, as if Oprah's book club wasn't enough... ;)
I found this book in a time when I needed it most. I was getting super overwhelmed with people's ego's, as well as my own ego getting in the way of daily decisions and goals, dictating their actions, and me holding those ego actions against them as if it was something personal. I needed a deeper understanding of the mind, more psychology classes please. This book is an insightful look on the EGO, and Eckhart's definition of society's current state of mental dysfunction. Because things can not define a person, because things, as we are, can be replaced or die off. Things are impermanent. As life is.
Rachie and I ready to hit The Bowl in style! Check out our American Appy, Floral, Sexy fo leather, and our lil smiles! :)
GRINDING Santa Maria Tri- Tip SB locos
Very impressed with the recycling station set up. This was a special thing for the concert... They had a food waste bin, and lots of other properly categorized bins. GO GREEN good example lots of waste at shows ...
The Duke Spirit. First time seeing this band. I think the lead singer is British, either way I was pissed. Her outfit was So Gaga. Her pants were fly, the top not so much. I was diggin' the jams and fist pumping.
OMG you have a blog too!! Yippie more girlie bloggers in SB! Check out me and Rachel's fashion debut on SantaBarbaraStyles.com Saucy!
KilGar and Brandon Boyd- HOT
Rachie's bangs are bangin'
Yes. Seriously.
Well, if you didn't know already, Brandon Boyd is not only a musically talented hotty, but a raging fine artist. Pretty much why I am so down. Please check out some of his art pieces... I know you will dig. This has always been my favorite. Since high school.
Vampire fads. They come and go. The last time we had this big of a vampy faze was back in the 80's. Lost Boys came out and hooked me with their star Michael. Truth is, Michael was the innocent human who fell in love with the vampire Starr down at the beach. She was supposed to be his first...
His first what? FUCK!? LOL that is what they want you to think, but some how in every single vampire movie, they imply the kill or bite as some sort of sexual act. And it seems vampires have their own virginal code in terms of their first kill. Therefore your mind automatically makes the association between killing and sex. Weird right. But it makes sense!
Vampires are the one MONSTER AND KILLER that you can actually lust after, and sex is their super power. That is why we are all obsessed! They hypnotize you by placing a spell that makes you want to do it. They are the sexiest monster there is, and if you are like me, and you love horror, this is right up your ally.
Kiefer Sutherland is one of the best vampires of all time. Hands down, he is a mother fuckin bad ass.
"Maggots Michael, Maggots"
Jason Patric made me want to grow up and be 18 ya dig. Michael is also sporting oober hip shades in the Lost Boys Pic. He must have spoken to Mary Kate Olson. Trends always repeat themselves. A more modern approach to being hip. Ok. So this was the deal breaker. This movie transformed my vampire fascination to a whole different level. I think that for the first time, being a vampire wasn't about having sex with humans and going in for the kill, Interview With A Vampire was about the birth of a cold blooded killer and a life plagued with eternal time. How it all started. The beginning. Christ rising. Whatever you want to call it. This movie got back to the basics. The costumes were amazing, and you can't beat the cast. My favorite part of the whole movie was when Kristen Dunst cut her hair and it just kept growing. Her long blonde curls. That was the moment she realized she would live forever. Until the sun got to her. Still want this gold ring. I am claiming it now! So these previous vampire flicks have been AWESOME, this one, got me a little excited. But mostly just because I like POP culture and teeny bop shit as well. This was the most cheese ball part of the movie. Overall, got me all excited about vampire sex again.
My favorite TV series True Blood. It is legit. Mad sex. Mad killing. Creepy shit. Hot Babes. Watch the trailer. Just for kicks. Check the full article on Hipster Runoff
I loved this piece. The mouths are delicious. There are eyes at the top of the board but for some reason I was just too hypnotized by the lips to take a pic of the eyes. LOL
The rose is very well done. Dig it.
My favorite piece of the whole show. Can you guess why?
One of my all time favs of the show, the Mother Of Pearl octopus on a woodis. Wood boards are extremely popular right now in the surf industry, very contemporary if you ask me. The craft involved in creating this type of art piece is just amazing.
SEXY SKULLS
Original. I dig it. Modern too.
LAYERS of paint.
The Anderson bros, and stars of the night- and family friend.
I had to share these with you. Last week I did a post on Biker Fashion, well here are the pics that provided me with so much inspiration! Check them out, drool a little. They are hot. I started really gettin into fashion blogs, but you know what? MAGS ARE STILL DA BOMB!! Don't forget about these amazing resources in a time when you are suppose to believe everything the internet flashes in front of you, or the hours you spend on a comp. Our communication methods are changing but Elle Mag still knows what's up with fashion and the their board of fashion experts are legit! So pick up a mag and hit the beach.
YAYAY POWELL PERALTA. We are re-releasing the line this fall, so get excited for some hoody's and tees with old school graphics on them. A gas station cut & sew item, as well as a Hawaiian shirt will be available.
Well, lets not avoid the obvious here. As far as I am concerned, this is perhaps one of the sickest music videos in HISTORY. I don't give a F what MJ did or how he transformed into "Jacko," I will forever remember him for THRILLER. Come on, who makes zombies dance like that? I love horror, straight up, the costumes are amazing, everything is on point. Legends never die anyways.
Have you ever smelt SEX WAX? If you have, you know the deez. Oh baby. SKEET SKEET.Check out this amazing collaboration between The Anderson Brothers & famous surf wax maker, and SB LOCO, Mr. Zog. GET SOME! Mr. Zog and Anderson Brothers Bring Sexy Back to the Contemporary Art World
Santa Barbara, CA - What happens when contemporary art meets surfboard wax? Avid surfers and contemporary artists Sean Anderson and Benjamin Anderson in collaboration with Zog’s Sex Wax have made the magic happen. With a nod from Mr. Zog, the duo has created a series of multicolored wax sculptures, constructed completely out of surfboard wax. Art collectors and surfers, meet Sexy Skull.
Sexy Skulls will be released at the opening of Rogue Wave, a contemporary survey of surf art on the 27th of June at the Anderson Art Collective. Seven limited editions of the skull will be available, each adhering to Zog’s world famous scents and colors. “We are very excited to merge an icon of surf culture with the contemporary art world … and make it smell good,” said the Anderson Brothers.
Since 1972 Mr. Zog has dedicated himself to manufacturing and marketing surf-related products including Sex Wax, the undisputed worldwide leader in surfboard wax. Sex Wax Inc. is located south of Santa Barbara in Carpinteria, just a stone's throw from the world famous wave at Rincon and a brisk walk from the Anderson Brothers’ Studio.
Sexy Skull is just one of the projects underway by the entrepreneurial Anderson Brothers, each a successful artist in his own right. “The collaborations allow us to pursue tangents that individually we might have considered too unorthodox,” note the siblings who say there is another unprecedented release in the pipeline for the fall.
With their father, veteran fine artist Ron Anderson, they have opened Anderson Art Collective, a contemporary gallery located in the historic Henry Fish Seed Company building at the entrance to Carpinteria State Beach. After their successful inaugural show in May, they are now presenting Rogue Wave, a contemporary surf show that Santa Barbara’s Independent art critic Aly Comingore says “might just be the surf art exhibit of the year”.
Rogue Wave opens in Carpinteria on Saturday June 27th at 410 Palm Avenue with a daylong reception from 10am to 10pm benefiting the Surfrider Foundation. Five percent of sales and all proceeds from the sale of refreshments by Island Brewery, go to the local chapter.
The seven limited editions of Sexy Skull can only be purchased through Anderson Art Collective. For more information and inquiries please contact the gallery at 805.684.8783 or go here.
