Born and raised and still proud to call the Central California surf town of Santa Barbara home, Caterina Caligiuri draws much of her artistic style from the aesthetics and culture of her surroundings.

Caterina completed her post graduate education in Graphic Design and Photography at Santa Barbara City College, formerly graduating with a BA in Communications from the University of Arizona's nationally recognized and award winning program in Tucson. Her time studying abroad at the Unversitat of Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain has not only influenced her creative style but has furthered her native Spanish language skills in becoming bilingual.
Today she continues to build the professional reputation she has gained from her last 6 years working in the Action Sports Industry for brands such as Skate One Corporation and Neff Headwear.
Most recently her work with SLTWTR Digital Creative Agency as a creative Creative Project Coordinator and Account Manger has included clients such as Channel Island Surfboards (Burton Snowboards), Seymour Duncan, SeaVees, and The French Press.
Caterina’s time in traveling and her California roots have created a rich palate from she is able to draw her inspiration.
“I am influenced by California Culture, beach lifestyle, skateboarding, health and wellness. I am fascinated by the history of skateboard art and the role skateboarding has played within urban and beach communities, much like the way I am intrigued with the transformative power a beautiful public mural can have on positively uplifting a community.
The artwork and designs I create are built upon my fine art foundation of drawing and painting and influenced by character studies, street, tattoo, pinup, classical and lowbrow art. I am constantly striving to make complex ideas more simple, clean and modern looking.
Incorporating illustrations, balanced color combinations, and texture create a handmade aesthetic to my designs. Working in different formats, such as the bottom of a surfboard, gives my art a unique audience as it transcends off the canvas and screen and into the ocean. I am pleased working in large-scale proportions such as murals and retail windows, as well as working on smaller graphics that are meant for print and web.”
